I'm curious about how you attach a strap to the end pin jack. I've used a leather straps with a C ring. I've taken out a screw from the plate and put a strap button on like this. What do you like best?

Here's one I haven't tried.

I have one of those. It works well.

What’s the problem with putting the strap on the endpin jack? Isn’t that the whole point?

With a Heritage Sweet 16 I use a Tapastring Strap Keeper. It's a leather tab that slips through the end of a standard strap and then fits over the endpin output jack, with a nylon retainer that clips over the output jack to keep everything connected. I purchased it via the maker's website. About US$12. Said to ship worldwide.

Pinegrove Leather in the UK makes a similar product, with a slightly different implementation for the retaining clip. It doesn't appear to be available separately but can be had with the purchase of a guitar strap. I have no experience with Pinegrove Leather.Last edited by dconeill; 07-09-2024 at 02:45 PM.

For me, the strap often falls off, with possible deleterious effects on the guitar.

I'm also using one of these for an archtop without an upper strap button. I attached a waxed cotton cord through the straplink hole and tied it around the neck under fretboard extension.

Mine (Eastman acoustic) has larger diameter than a typical strap button and I have a lot of trouble getting a strap onto it.

I have both. I've also used the method in the first post. They all work. My preferred method changes from time to time and from guitar to guitar.

Most of my guitars have end pin jacks. Been using the Neotech strap for awhile and have found them to work well enough. Also have the Acousti-Lok on one guitar. Had to grind it down (it's made of brass) to fit properly. Not an issue with the product.. this particular guitar was a bear to get the end jack to fit with enough exposed metal for solid guitar jack contact. The Acoustic-Lok was a solid piece though and solved the problem. Not sure anything else would have.
All in all, the usual end piece for end pin jacks pretty much suck and I've I always needed something other than trying to get a standard strap to stay put.

I have several of these and they do work. But they are a hassle if you want to switch straps among guitars. But they are my default.

I use DiMarzio clip locks on nearly all my guitars except for the archtops, which are always a pain in that regard. I also have a strap for every guitar but have had straps discolor guitars if put in the case with the strap on them so I never do that.

I know a lot of straps come with a short shoelace looking piece of leather through one of the end holes, is that what you use? Or, is there something else that is more or less permanently attached to the headstock you attach a strap to?
Again, thanks in advance

I saw the description. It doesn't say whether it is for the standard non-Taylor end pin but it looks like it.

Here is the end pin on my archtop; not a whole lotta space for a hefty leather strap. The Taylor attachment fits well.

I prefer something non-destructive.

Thanks so much! I will look into it!

I do my own custom surgery on my strap holes as required.
I do slice the hole to make it longer, but sometimes I have to make it wider as well.
Thickness has not been an issue so far.
I use a dedicated strap for each instrument.
This method works fine for me.
But of course YMMV.

Actually a simple knot could do the trick of beeing able to untie on the neck side of the strap - it's robust enough and feels safe on my L5.
