Hi guys.
Is it ok to post a melody on here and see if you guys can harmonize it?
I have trouble hearing/working out some of the harmony and am curious as to what ideas you can come up with.
It's only 8 bars, in a Jazzy Christmas style. Kinda Marshmallow World/Santa Claus is Coming to town.
Hope that's ok?
No problem if not.
Cheers
Nate.

We can pretend we're Pat Metheny harmonizing an Ornette head. But like Pat, we get half credit for the authorship, OK?
Share your tune! It'd be a lovely exercise and project for all of us. Thanks for doing this.
Maybe we can have a regular thread, a co-writing thread. I'd love to hear it Nate99!

Sure, let's try it!

Thanks guys!
Ok so if it helps this is the bridge part.
The verse and key of the song is G major and the idea I had for the end chord of this bridge to be a D7 to bring it back to G. Though whatever works is great.
Look forward to your ideas!
Cheers

Hope the rough quality is ok.
Should be clear enough to hear. Just did a quick recording on my phone.
Thanks

No takers?

OK, here is five minutes of tossing something out...
GM9 | F13 | E9 | E9
Am7 | Bm7 | D9sus4 | G69
Am7 | A#dim7 | Bm7 | C69 | D#(dim6)
then repeat or use the D#(dim6) to lead into a B part starting with Dm7...?
I'm not set up to record it but if someone wants to, please feel free.

Most basic conventional version would be to me
Fisrt line
Bm7 Bbdim Am7
E7 Am7 D7 G6
Sencond line is a sequence interrupted with the cadence sounds like
Am7 D7 Bm7 ... interrupted with cadence

Thanks very much!

Thanks. Wish my ears were that good!
Helps so much to hear it, so I can relate.
Cheers.

So, are you guys using your ears, theory or a bit of both to work it out?
Thanks

I did not think of it of course but it is os simple that I can understand immidiately as I hear it..
What Paul offered imho is more derivative... he seems to underly chords under melodic notes that are supposed to sort of extentions here
