I have less difficulty working out Wes' single note stuff because his tone is so clear and crisp.
I really struggle with his chordal stabs.
Especially on the intro to Fried Pies. I know it goes into a Jazz blues in F, but can someone here help me with the voicings he uses in the intro head section? Especially the little turnaround bit.
Great tune.
In fact any advice or help on transcribing these, or just a general sharing of Wes' chordal ideas would be great.

Here is the head. 12 bar blues in the key of F:
Bb9/ F13/ Bb9/ F7#5/
Fm7 /Bb9/ Bb9/ Ab13/
Db9..C9#5..B13/ run/ Am7#5..D7#9..G7/ C7sus4
and repeat.
Most chords are hit off the beat.
Close as I can get you, others may help a bit more.

Excellent, those chords sound exactly right.
You have much better ears than me!
How would you fret the Amin7#5
Like this?

Yes, fret it there. Pin the F on the B string and use it in each of the
turn-around chords. Makes the F a drone/pedal point/ reference.

does anyone have this score?
-
I can send you the transcription by PM if you like it.
-
There is a Wes Book by Steve Khan with that and other transcriptions.

Thanks Mike

Here it is.
Kind regards, Gerard (Amsterdam).

Thanks Gerard, I seem to just have a jpeg image of the first page of the score. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks Mike

cool, I’m not actually Gerard though, I was just trying to answer your query!
It is a great tune and solo of course.

Thanks to mjervis ror resurrecting and many thanks to the contributors in this Thread. Easily my favorite Wes tune (particularly the first cut, although "Take I" isn't to shabby either!) on Boss Guitar
