B, B & B is the ultimate 'augmented' progression. I wonder if it was in some way an influence on Coltrane's Giant Steps? On that note, how about the bridge of Have You Met Miss Jones?

Ok, what tunes usually played in F don't modulate to A?

The Song is You and Prelude to a Kiss from C to E

I played Shiny Stockings a couple of weeks ago and didn't think of it going up from F to A. Maybe it's because it moves there by stealth, ie via the intervening tone (I was also accompanying my daughter in the key of C moving to E).

Do Nothing Til You Hear From Me goes to the bVI

It creeps up there with sneaky 2 5s…. one things leads to another….

Between The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea and Beyond The Sea: two more 'sea' tunes in F (!) that move to A in the bridge. Also Portrait of Jennie although it only makes a quick pit stop there.

Christian mentioned Lullaby of the Leaves as a minor tune that goes to the bVI in the bridge (however it's not a modulation). Another one that just popped into my head is You and the Night and the Music.

Bernie’s tune goes to bVI in the B. But it’s such a crap bridge I don’t think it counts.
