We're nearing the end of our herniated disc sell-off. With my newly acquired Fuchs ODH110, I no longer need these. The Quilter TB202 is well known to most of you and is owned & loved by more than a few. It pumps 200 honest Watts into an 8 Ohm load, does everything a Boogie Mk 1 does except heavy OD, has an outstanding reputation for reliability, is backed by one of the best and most responsive service organizations in the world, and weighs a few ounces over 3 pounds. Every one of my guitars sounds like it should through this amp & these speakers. Ssolid bodies, carved archtops, laminated achtops, and flattops with all kinds of pickups (active, passive, set, floating, HB, SC, piezo) all sound like themselves. It's also widely regarded as a pedal platform, because it lets external effects do what they do and sound their best.

It puts out gorgeous clean jazz tones, sounds and feels like a tube amp, and has the power of a Twin. The reverb is very nice and not at all spacey It even has a limiter that lets you add a little compression, tailor sustain and creamy OD to your liking, or leave it off. The 3 band EQ is wide (+/- 10 dB) and very responsive. There's an XLR DI (a true mic level signal) that uses the speaker as part of the "tone shaping system". The signal is like mic'ing the speaker, so it's most useful to drive the board for sound reinforcement in live performance. The front panel signal out (set to pre) delivers a balanced, TRS line level signal that's inependent of master volume and most useful for recording or giving full control of your output to the FOH. It's also a headphone output when set to post.

This head is part of Quilter's Block system. The head slips into a dock at the back of each of these cabinets, making it a combo amp. They made 10, 12, and 15 inch "docks" for the 200 series heads, and I have both the 10 and the 12. The 10 is a very small (13.5" H x 12.5" W x 10.75") and very light (19 pounds and a few ounces with the head in place) closed back cab that's a great grab-n-go with much more power than almost any combo amp near its size at any price. The driver (a Celestion TF1018 ) is rated for 100W, so you have to set the front panel master power of the TB202 to 100 W and avoid trying to outpower a horn driven rock band with it. If you have a 100 series Tone Block head, you can slip it in and push it to its limit. The cab has a beveled rear bottom edge, so it tilts back. Verrrry groovy!

The BD12 HD is a bit larger at 16" x 18.25" x 10.75". It's a few ounces short of 23 pounds with the head in place (which compares quite favorably with my 1x12 Boogie with EVM that weighed 65 lbs). It's loaded with a Celestion BN12-300S, a killer 300W speaker that's widely compared to an EVM-12L for versatility. I played a Boogie "Mk 0" with their EVM12L for many years, and the comparison is very appropriate. In the BD12, the Tone Block covers any gig my Boogie (or my Twins) would handle. It lets any guitar sound its best, and I've enjoyed every minute with it.

The 12" is significantly louder than the 10" and has a bit more low bass. But I only play 7s and the 10 has been my main grab-n-go amp since I got it because it sounds so good. I've only used the 12 on a few gigs where I needed a lot of power - and it delivered in spades!

The Block Docks sold for $649 (12") and $419 (10"). The head sells for $719 new. Here are the only 2 used ones on Reverb at 2:45 PM today:
