It is actually called realistic pricing from a very good dealer and source. Unlike Reverb where the price of a GJS is completely inflated beyond value.

Fabulous! Well there's proof Gibson did in fact make a leather cover.

My 70s blonde GJS lost the tailpiece name plate. I was thinking of having one made but decided to keep it as is.

I actually removed mine on porpoise and kept it off. Put it back on when I finally sold it.

I heard about that, the marine biologists were quite upset about it, they could no longer track the porpoise they named Johnny Smith.

"Is anyone here a marine biologist!?"

I have a '74 GJS with a great acoustic voice, very distinct from a regular acoustic L5. It's quite nice, sweet and as TRM described. The neck is very comfortable and I love the way it plays. This looks like a great deal, and if I were looking for one, this would be worth checking out.

I have a Johnny Smith and an L5C with a factory JS pickup, both from the 1960’s. I agree, that they are quite different guitars. I think the JS is one of the most perfect jazz guitars that Gibson ever made. I have also owned a number of Norlin-era Gibsons and I think they are excellent value. The guitar in the OP’s post looks like a great deal to me.

It's frequently hard to tell why some Gibsons get the '2' , sometimes it was a matter of Gibson selling guitars at a discount to move inventory. This one seems obvious but no big deal to a player. Sometimes guitars marked as seconds make people hesitate to buy but this one is priced to sell.
Are we sure that cover is real leather TRM? pleather can be pretty convincing.

It’s been a while since it was here. If I could take a close look now I would. I suppose it could be pleather.

I still haven't seen a real leather Gibson case cover or even one on a price list.
I'd like to be proven wrong but I just don't think they exist.
