after gibson canceled sam ash and guitar center in 2016, they started selling direct to the public. I bought a new 335 for $1800 direct. It was the worse piece of crap I ever saw from them. The finish was horrendous. Whoever sprayed the sunburst was clearly someone with no more than 2 weeks training. Fret work was horrible, overall quality was ridiculously bad. Anyone who pays thousands for a 2016 L5 is in for a shock

About 2 years ago I tried a 2016 Wes Mo. The asking price was £9999. Both E strings kept slipping off the edge of the fingerboard. A couple of months later I bought a beautiful 2005 L5 CES with no such problem.
