**Pictures Added** Price £1,850 ono. 2007 Vestax D’angelico NY2-FH
This model was made in Japan under licence from Vestax Corp and is the rarer ‘Wesmo’ D’Angelico NYL-2FH.
Unlike the vast majority of NYL-2’s, this one has a fixed humbucker, hence the ‘FH’ designation.
It has a pressed solid spruce top and laminate back and sides.
The sound is fatter than the usual floater type NYL-2’s.
The guitar is as good as mint as a used guitar can be.
Comes with OHSC, key, D’Angelico branded pack of strings (unused), truss rod key and receipt of purchase.
Can ship UK, EU and US at a push.

sorry to derail, but whatever happened to your archtop business startup? Haven't heard anything since I watched a couple videos over a year ago.
-
I had a wine red 2006 NYL-2, which had been sitting at Mairants in London for a few years. The remaining blue versions had turned greenish by then. The wonderful-sounding carved-top NYS-2 Mak let me try was way beyond my budget. So this was the only option, despite the ebony tailpiece instead of the metal Stairstep design. Why did I part with it? My Epi Emperor Regent, after a couple of PU changes, was close enough in sound. I wanted an ES-175, so the D'A became a valuable trade-in.
What you are offering looks like perfection against my experience: fuller sound from the set-in humbucker, and the looks of the metal tailpiece. If only I...

Still going. I had to move workshop again and am just finishing setting up the new one. Despite now having moved 3 times in 3.5 years, I'm struggling on lol.

Wait?! What?! You put in so much work in that last place! Are these people simply leasing spaces and waiting for someone to come along and improve them? That’s frustrating!

The workshop belonged to a family friend who had very kindly lent it to me. I had no choice but to move there and I knew the plug would be pulled at some point. If I had been able to get into business quicker, then things would have been different. I think the person who owned it thought that I would be able to start building guitars with very little experience or skill and I was firm in my commitment to learn first, then build.
It went on to cause quite a rift.
Things were confounded when the unit was given as part of an inheritance to the son who wanted me out asap (more than fair). I got about 2 months notice and at this point it looked like the end. Everyone was telling me to fold it in but managed to find an old turkey shed on a farm at the last minute near Gatwick airport (of all places) for a really good price. I don't mind if this fails but it has to fail because I cannot make any money. Not because I gave up half way through.
The Family friends were very kind in letting me store the machinery whilst I moved and I appreciate everything they did for me.
In the 3.5 years I've been doing this, I have had to move 3 times and have spend about 1.5 years of that time, building and moving workshops. Nothing to do with guitar making at all. It's been such a phenomenal waste of time but when you're at the mercy of others, you can just bare it and push on. Without their help I would have never been able to get started. 'Swings and roundabouts' as we say.
On the bright side, I have learnt a lot about workshops and building them, which is good if you want to be in manufacturing. I have also learnt and exceeded all my targets in terms of CAD, CAM, CNC machining, veneer making and laminated making, so I'm behind in time but on track; if that makes sense?
I've also managed to start collaborating with a luthier (who I cannot name), so things are looking up.
I've also made a huge discovery that you're going to love. I can't say what it is yet but I think it's goign to be my first limited run of models and I think they will go down a storm. So yeh, I'm excited!
I just need to raise some funds to put 3 phase electrics in the new workshop, hence why I'm selling some guitars.Last edited by Archie; 08-06-2025 at 06:01 PM.

So sorry to hear about the issues you're having with the shop, I hope this last move will be the very last! And you cannot go wrong with an NYL-2, they are fantastic guitars and I absolutely love mine

A case for crowdfunding? "Revealing the mystery of glorious archtop guitars of the golden era with modern technology."
My Toob biz has been entirely self-financed, just because Finnish legislation rules out Kickstarter etc., and the local alternative addresses mainly weird cultural projects, on peanuts level. BTW, learned just today that I'll be losing my workshop of 7 years to the wrecker's ball at the end of September. I knew this would happen, but allegedly not after a legal process of 2-3 years. So my hunt starts on Monday.

Yes I suppose there could be an opportunity for crowdfunding but I’n not a youtube channel per se and I don't want to have to commit to different projects before I've failed at this one!
I look forward to hearing how your move is going.

Hi Archie! My relocation ordeal is finally over, and a batch of 12 Metros is nearing completion. Still cramped, but a tangible improvement in logistics, i.e. productivity. I tried to attach a photo of the "playstation" but was blocked three times.
That D'A of yours - if only I were a magnitude younger and richer...

Hey Gitterbug, was going to ask you how the move was going. Good to hear you've got yourself sorted.

I sold an Ibanez 2471 to a fellow member in new hampshire and I think all in, including insurance and duties, it was around $300, plus whatever the guitar price converted to.
So at a guess I would say £1,750 converted to $ is about $2,350k + $300 so all in you’re looking at $2,650 (ish).
I know the £ price always looks tempting to you guys in the states but it does come up higher once converted.
@ 2,650 it’s maybe a bit rich for the US market but happy to chat more through DM?
