This is a rare guitar of exceptional craftsmanship, number 20 of only an estimated 40 ever made. Stephen Stern trained under Jimmy D'Aquisto and built these guitars for Fender after Jimmy passed away and before going on to head the Gretsch Custom Shop. Comes with the original hardshell case.
Fender Custom Shop D'Aquisto Stephen Stern Masterbuilt Ultra Archtop in excellent condition. A full size floating humbucker has been added, plus a tone knob. The humbucker sounds INCREDIBLE, way better than the Kent Armstrong that came on the guitar. Comes with OHSC. Frets have almost no wear. This guitar is incredible, and better than other Stephen Stern Fender D'Aquisto Ultras I've tried. Neck is very comfortable and action is low. This guitar plays itself. Acoustically resonant and feedback resistant. Foam plugs not necessary. Shipping worldwide. Available to try in NYC. I can send a video demonstration if interested.
This Stephen Stern built Ultra archtop was constructed with a spruce top, AAAA flamed maple back and sides, a 3 ply flamed maple and mahogany neck, and ebony tuner buttons, bridge, pickguard, volume knob, pickup housing, and tailpiece. The guitar is X braced and features a custom Kent Armstrong handwound mini humbucker in the neck position. The neck has a width of 1 3/4" at the nut, a depth of .91” at the first fret, and a depth of 097” at the ninth fret. The guitar has a 25.5 ” scale and weighs 6.08 lbs.
Fender sourced only the very best of woods for these guitars. You can see in the photos that the top is made of top grade spruce which shows remarkably prominent medullary rays only seen with perfectly quartersawn woods. The back and side are made with 4A grade flamed maple. The neck is one piece flamed maple. The fingerboard is top grade ebony, as is the bridge, pickguard, volume knob, pickup housing, tuner buttons, and tailpiece.Last edited by silvermanr; 08-09-2025 at 07:06 AM.

hmmmmm, in post #1 you write: The neck is 3-ply flamed maple with a darker wood in the center which to my eye looks like mahogany.
