Been trying to figure out how to record guitar video without messing around with recording and syncing audio and video. There is a program called OBS that records audio and video together but it's overly complicated for a simple guitar vid. Since phone cameras are getting really good, I got to thinking about adding a real microphone to my Samsung Galaxy A36 and ended up doing a little AI research and came up with the following: use the phone as the 'host' instead of computer that you normally use for recording - it takes a USB 'B' to USB 'C" cable from your interface of choice (I use a Behringer UMC204HD) to your phone. Then download a phone app called 'Open Camera' which let's you select an external microphone. I then plug my AT2020 condenser mic into the interface which then goes to the phone via the above cable along with the video recording. It saves in the phone as a regular MP4 file. I then transfer the file to my desktop, open it in Reaper and do whatever (reverb/comp/whatever) to the audio the render it as a new MP4 file. Note: you do have to have a fairly new phone to do this due to needing sufficient battery to get the phantom power for the interface - If you use something like an SM-57 it's definitely not a problem. I think AI computed that I can get an hour's worth of recording time with mine. Still experimenting but it seems to work well. If anyone is interested, I'll copy the AI chat which runs it down (the order of connections is important) and post it or email it.

I use Shotcut it can synch audio sources. GoPro has a bad mic but it’s good enough for the program to match up my Tascam.
