The Webcam quality isn't great. See below.
Pretty much what I want to do - which recording software do you use?

    It's a very simple setup.

I'm using the free MS Windows Camera software for recording the video file.
Here: Windows Camera - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store

I'm using the free KdenLive for editing the video file.

I wanted to show how simple using Reaper as a Video Editor and audio recorder can be as long as you are doing simple video editing. I took me about 4:30 minutes to explain and do it, without the explaining I could do this in less than 2 minutes. I hope this is helpful.

I've been quite happy with my setup. The main piece of hardware is the PreSonus Audiobox iTwo--an older unit but still working well for me. If I'm using a backing track, that goes into one channel of the Audiobox. The guitar can either be mic'd acoustically, or I mic the cab with a Shure SM57, or use the direct out depending on which amp I use. I run the USB from the back of the Audiobox to my iPhone, and the iPhone does the capture of video and audio. The result is a two-track recording with the backing track and guitar in separate channels.
I have a piece of software I use for recording lectures for students called Screenflow, and I dump the iPhone file into that. I pan the guitar to the center, often leave the backing on one channel. Adjust the volume a bit for each channel for balance, add a Title screen, and I'm done. I export the file to MP4 and upload to YouTube. I have the basic gear set up semi-permanently, even have my old iPhone for recording so I don't have to move the phone around.
It's more elaborate than the "Prop the phone against a bookcase" school, but not as refined as the whole post-production suite folks would do, but for posting clips for my friends or for the forum, it works great.

Best sound for the absolutely simplest setup, video and Audi automatically synched.

AudiGo Mic and iPhone. You can place the mic anywhere, and separate it from phone. No DAW needed for processing.

Even simpler: Voice Memos app on iPhone works great. But this is an audio only. You can record a separate video and sync the Voice Memo audio in the video and eliminate the video’s audio in iMovie or something. Easy to do.
