There are just so many that have already been mentioned: Getz, Trane, Bird, Lovano, Parker, Rollins, Desmond, Turrentine, Hawkins, Young, Shorter, Becker, Henderson, Gordon, Zoot, Redman and many more, but I'd add these two to the list:

    • Bob Mintzer
    • Jay Beckenstein

Yes, it's mimed. It's part of the "Improvisation" films by Norman Granz.

For a second I thought you were talking about Danny MacAskill and I thought "Geez, is there nothing that guy can't do?!?!"

    Scott Hamilton - Autumn Leaves

Autumn Leaves is a very popular song for Jams and beginners, but maybe that's because it's a great song.

Patrick Bartley is a very good younger sax player, mostly alto. I've never been much into saxophone players, but I like his playing.

Back in the 60s I had records by Johnny Hodges and Coleman Hawkins that I liked. Paul Desmond too.

Other names that come to mind are Stan Getz, Maceo Parker, Stanley Turrentine, Grover Washington Jr., Teco Cardoso and Spok.

Maybe I missed it but I don't think I saw Walt Weiskopf mentioned?

I love his playing on albums like Open Road and Overdrive

Patrick Bartley is a force of nature. Bebop chops when required but very musical sense of melody at all tempos.
