Michael John "Duke" Robillard is 77 now and working on his autobiography. I look forward to reading it.
This Funky Biscuit gig from 2022 is a fine example of Duke's passions and influences:

Shufflin' and Scufflin' (instrumental blues shuffle) I'm Gonna Quit My Baby, You Don't Love Me and I Don't Even Care (a T-Bone Walker slow blues), Jump the Blues For You, I Can't Believe That You're in Love With Me (instrumental), If I Had You (Instrumental), The Blue Coat Man (Eddie Boyd tune from the early '50s), Something To Remember You By (Eddie "Guitar Slim" Jones tune), Gonna Get You Told (a tune Duke wrote for BB King), Fishnet (a funky tune of Duke's), Make It Rain (a Tom Waits song Duke fell in love with while touring with Tom).

Duke has released over 30 solo albums, aside from his recordings with Roomful of Blues, his stint w the Fabolous Thunderbirds, two great albums with Herb Ellis and A Whole Lot More.
I have a lot of it but not nearly all.
I've learned a lot from him and think he's made a lot of excellent albums.
Below, a smattering of recordings I especially enjoy.
    Feel free to add others!

    "Moten Swing" with Herb Ellis.

    "Gee I Wish"

"Git With It" (a rockin' tune Barney Kessel issued under an alias, Rock Murphy)

"T-Bone Shuffle" Duke made a whole album of T-Bone Walker tunes.

I saw him in 2023 maybe, did a line check by playing some Bill Jennings licks. His HotLicks DVD lays it all out, for anyone looking to get some jazz in their blues lines, or a pathway from blues to jazz.

I have been a big fan for a long time. I saw him twice in NYC in the mid 90s, both great shows.
