The Classic Pat Metheny Lick - Pat Metheny and UnMetheny Diatonic Triads

I'm presenting the classic "metheny lick here" as well as the classic UnMetheny lick. (The 2nd of which is metheny like but not actually something he plays.

Note - These are diatonic triads in C but are modal. In the demo, I am playing them over Dm7 4ths.

The first is the classic metheny triad riff where he arpeggiates triads up and down the neck, diatonically but hammering on the ghosted note without picking it. I use alternate or hybrid picking on the first 3 notes of each group of 4 notes. The ghosted note is a hammeron from nowhere (h)

This second is a pseudo-metheny triad riff. Same basic triad as the above but i pull off into a ghost note for the 3rd note in the arpeggio. Metheny does not use this variation as far as I've ever heard but it's a cool technique and still sounds very metheny like. There's no rule which fret you pull off to since they are ghosted but I tend to mute the string in the position of wherever my first finger falls on the string
