I really this Ulf, fellow. And I found out he has this book out with Oscar Peterson licks. Has anyone tried it? I used the look inside feature and from looking at the construction of the lines, they seem very nice to learn from (and steal!)

To play with the Oscar Peterson Trio tells you something. Another really good player I think many members would like is Jim Mullen who is based in London and plays archtops with his thumb quite well! He says the technique must always be the SER
VANT and not the MASTER!

Just had a quick look through the book and listen to the audio files. Love it . Its way more than just a licks book he lays things out really nicely in the context of character/ideas/vocabulary in Petersons playing. Ostinato, Double stops, Motif development, Pedal tones etc etc. Great stuff and very accessible. Thanks for the heads up.

That sounds excellent. OP was a phenomenal player and he had great taste in guitar players: Barney Kessel, Herb Ellis (my favorite), Joe Pass, and then Ulf. I don't know as much of Ulf's work with OP but if Oscar hired him and kept him for a decade, he's not just the real deal, he's one helluva deal!
I'm going to get this book!
Thanks for mentioning it.
