Ok, just an update. I now consider myself on Chapter 11 although a lot of revision is still required to get the connecting game up to speed.
Currently I am ok with Maj pat 1 and Min pat 2 in situations 1 - 4. maj pat 3 and Min pat 4 need more work.
The aim of course is to learn more situations.
Chapter 7 is great. I love it. Perhaps I don't like being to confined.I find myself freely substituting III and VI for I and even mixing up III,VI and I in the same bar. This chapter definitely makes the book much more interesting.
I have learned one position of the melodic minor scale as I needed it for the 2-5-1's that I am using so the goal is to learn more positions.
Chapters 9 & 10 are basically reading chapters so I am playing ( or rather 'trying' to play the connecting game in chapter 11.
My camera has been fixed so hopefully I can record some playing very soon.
I have also attempted to play over progressions in the Real Book using the material learned so far but it is a very slow exercise which, hopefully in time, will pay dividends.

Ok, 8 months later I am here again.
I have used mainly Pattern 1 Major and Pattern 2 Minor (plus subs) to get here.
This will be my consolidation chapter for a while (although I have already started to write and practise licks).
I will cover chapter 12 when I feel ready before going on to chapter 16.
it's a great book and study group and my playing is rapidly improving because of it.
Happy picking!
Chunking, does it work for Jazz improv?
