I've realised for sometime I have trouble with this. I'm ok with single notes both soft and loud with my Delrin 1.5 mm pick and I'm ok loud with chord tremolo a la Gypsy Jazz with a 5mm Wegen but I struggle with a 'subtle' quality on my ATs. eg 125, 175 etc
I've been watching Bucky on this YT clip. See at 1.32 that really smooth trem on the C11.
I would appreciate some advice please. I don't want to change picks. Thanks

Loose and light. That’s triplets too. You probably know all this.

Turn your pick slightly. Practice without chords (although it is easier with chordal string pressure) since it is primarily a right hand technique, string muting while you work out the pressure and pick angle and always strum on/over the neck itself as Bucky does. That is a big component in my estimation as it eliminates a significant degree of pick drag.

I don't think there is an easy fix for that. Tremolo is byproduct of a loose right hand, which takes time to build. Play a lot of rhythm guitar at various tempos, including super fast. I'm not talking modern style comping, but swing, Gypsy, bugaloo, anything with groove. Play a lot of funk as well, those fast 16th notes is a great right hand chops builder.

I play plenty of dixie banjo now, and THAT helps a lot, all those tremolo outbursts is essential part of style, when i switch to guitar it's already there without much effort. But needs time.

I often do it with the middle finger, so no pick involved. Slightly bent it and move the wrist like you're shaking off water. I've seen plenty of blues artists do it this way.
