Mike Brecker/McCoy Tyner, Pentatonic 3rds (4ths) Inside/outside side stepping

I have tons of lessons like this on JackZucker | Jazz Guitarist, teacher, composer, Former student of Pat Martino | Patreon.

Ex 1 - This is a pattern based on pentatonic 3rds and similar to what you hear players like Mike Brecker play.
Pentatonic 3rds have several perfect 4th intervals within them so they sound exotic and open. I play these with
pick and fingers but you can use economy or alternate picking too. Another thing I like to do is to slur the notes
that are on the same strings in order to get a legato feel to it.

And if you finger each note on adjacent strings with a seperate finger it has a more horn-like feel to it.

You could use this over Gm7, EbMaj7, C7, etc.

Ex 2 - Same pattern but moving a 1/2 step up, using displacement/side-stepping to achieve an inside/outside and
abstract sound.

You can use this over the same chords as the original Ex 1
