Hi all,
I'm looking at this 1939 Gibson L4: Gibson L 4 Bj. 1939 USA in violin sunburst | Reverb Austria
Has anyone, by any chance, played that guitar?
I'm not too knowlegdeable with these instruments, but it says it was restored (but no further details) and the lacquer on the pictures looks pretty new, so it might has been refinished. Would the asking price be reasonable (for the European market) considering a refin, a changed pickguard, possible changed tailpiece and a non original hsc?
If not, what would be a reasonable offer?
Reverb says it has been listed 3 years ago, so I guess either the price is too high or people tried it but didn't like it.
Anything else to look out for in these guitars, like a neck reset or repaired bracings? I would have to buy it online unseen unfortunately.
Any input is highly appreciated, thanks!!

It was listed 3 years ago and is way overpriced. Too many other guitars would do what this guitar will possibly do and be less expensive and possibly more collectable.

I'm a newbie to prewar Gibsons, but I thought that L4s are very close to L5s, which are considered by many as good as it gets in terms of acoustic 16'' archtops. And L5s cost about 5x more. Also, these guitars are really rare in the EU.
Not questioning your input, just trying to learnThanks!
