I do not mind abbreviations in general but as a history aware German with a family history ranging from Theresienstadt to Nuremberg trials I always get a little shock when I read SS. My mother's stepfather was hung in 1951.

Fellow German here. I have the same reaction every time I hear super-smooth Mark Whitfield praising the greatness of the "D'Angelico Deluxe ES!--ES! model" in the videos...

No NGD's for me recently. M4 AR's take up more cabinet room it seems even with the brace folded. Probably because I like to keep the Magpul's in and the red dot pokes out a bit. Still, not as bad as the SOCOM M1A with the 3X-10X 40mm. Fortunately the FN's, CZ's and HK's fit in the door.
In technical literature, the convention is to spell out the acronym the first time you use it even if you believe it's intuitively obvious to your readers.
- It's not what a jazz gig pays. It's about maintaining the marketplace and some playing standards. I don't see jazz amateurs playing cheap or free here in southern Oregon, but there are lots of folksy singer/songwriter types that do. And generally, you get what you pay for.
- Glad to see Larry C using backing tracks. Can't always have a combo at your disposal.

That's true in all contexts. Every style guide I've ever seen says to spell out acronyms and initialisms ("AI") in quotes and in parentheses on first use, and/or include them in a glossary or list of abbreviations. You'd think tech people who spend the bulk of their lives untangling other people's undocumented/uncommented code would know better than to pay confusion forward, but apparently not.

Took me a while to get SCOTUS and POTUS. Sometimes I still forget. Thank-you Google!

Sometimes I prefer the terms SCROTUS and POS-US. It varies.

Acronyms are why College Of Notre Dame Of Maryland had to change its name.

Which is an initialism, not an acronym.

I'm currently reading Varlam Shalamov's books; they fit wonderfully into this world's time.

I have always been wondering what guitar players think about such a German guitar, a pompous showboat and certainly rare collector's piece of great craftsmanship quality (actually these guitars sound better than what is presented on the poor clip of that commercial seller).
Btw., the guitar came from a Scandinavian owner; Scandinavia is not known for having (voluntarily) sided with the Nazis.

Wow. That Hoyer Bianca is amazing. I have a 1936 Calace' from Naples, Italy, and I thought it was a piece of art. That's amazing.

That is a LOT of bling for one guitar.

It is just a guitar.
