I was also skeptical, but it looks better than before. Enjoy! And post some clips in the showcase

Well, congratulations! Your judgement was definitely better than mine.

Looks great! And your guitar didn't explode after all!

As I'm looking at your pictures, I am trying to figure out how your luthier managed to make a little bit of an undercut of the neck beneath the fretboard. It looks very nice and finished that way.

Doing the end that way, with the fretboard overhang and the curve under it, is easy enough with the neck off. It must be devilishly difficult with the neck in place.

You could find a Loar lh309vs for $400-600 that would give you that space.

    Nice job!
But I do not understand, why it should be a problem. It's one straight cut?! With propper tools, skills and preparation, of course.

It's not one straight cut. There's the undercut of the neck end to make an overhanging fretboard, similar to the pre-cut neck end. And rounding the bottom of the neck edge, sanding all that, and finishing. Without messing up the guitar top. It's a bit tricky in there:

You are right, I didn't check the picture carefully. So simple curt would be easy enough and working solution. This one is more design thing. Nice!

My luthier said he removed the last fret wire, cut the fretboard there and removed it from the neck. Then he cut the neck below and sanded, then glued the slightly longer, overhanging piece of the fretboard back in place and replaced the fret wire. I didn't even ask him to do that, he did it on his own volition. Looks great though.

I'll try to record a little sample to show the difference in tone playing just above and just below the pickup when I have some time next week!

I was wondering how he managed that. It looks fab.
