... so many OSHA violations ...

The problem with an over-regulating government, puts manufacturers out of business then they can't collect taxes from them any more and everything goes to the ground...
Even Diphyllobothrium has evolved to have limited pathogenesis so it won't kill the host.

Maybe it was me but watching the video I swear I could tell those were those terrible thin necks of the late 1960's that seem to go to 1 9/16 width. I cannot play those and have to find other years or make sure the necks are correct. Even the flattops seem to have skinny necks and for sure the es355's. Definitely a cool video thank you for posting. Every time I see a late 1960's archtop for sale I think wow it could sound great but most are in the not usable range for playing.

Health and Safety regulations, taxes: how do those Europeans survive?

we listen to Gloria Gaynor 24/7
-
The film is very interesting. It is last years of the "real" Gibson, a couple years after the filming it was sold first to ECL and the to Norlin. Ted McCarty had left previous year to join Paul Bigsby. No Les Pauls in this film, they came back a year after this film.
Well... search somewhere a list of the countries that are happiest and a list of the countries where the taxes are highest. Surprisingly same countries in both lists.

I was a bit concerned for the ‘master sprayer’ who was holding the guitar about six inches from his face!

Good movie! No wonder these guitars are expensive and that they're all different. Some of the craftsmen and machinery featured could very well have produced the instrument I now have in my lap.
"The distinctive sound of a fine guitar strikes a satisfying note in our lives".
(amen)
-Were does the distinctive sound of a guitar begins?
The sound of the guitar begins here (!), with the finest of woods, slowly aged like vintage wine. Only a fraction of the world's finest wood is good enough".
How about that. The answer to our question has finally been revealed! It's been hidden in the secret archive for 55 years. I can now rest assured exotic tone wood, "formed to the exact form necessary to project the most beautiful tone" shall strike satisfying notes in my life... Hold on...
"Just as with the instrument itself, the electrical components which amplifies are constructed with the pride that demands precision and dedication. Every component and circuit is inspected with the same care that went into the making of the guitar. Each amplifier unit is adjusted as carefully as the instrument itself, so that it will accurately reproduce the distinctive guitar sound. Every model of electric guitar requires a pickup coil, designed specifically to take advantage of its sound characteristics. Once strings, pickups, amplifiers and guitars come together in exact combination the result is a sound as modern as tomorrow".
(or as old as yesterday!)
"The love of fine instruments demands that each craftsman be his own inspector. So much of the thrilling sound built into a fine guitar depends on such meticulous attention to detail."
(You can say that again! The master sprayer even scarified his health to strike a satisfying note in my life. Respect.)
"The orchestra of sounds which is the guitar does not just happen. it requires skill"...
That is the heritage I personally like to add to that most ancient musical heritage of all; The distinctive sound of fine fingers.

By convincing most of us that US and European stuff is worth the extra cost ... and sometimes it is ... same for Japan, Canada and Aus/NZ.
