I believe guitars are too amazing to be kept in a "PRISON"

No kids, no pets. Lotsa guitars with cases but they dwell apart.
Cases in a walk-in closet, while guitars either on stands or wall hangers. I like looking at them. Humidity monitored closely, and everything generally well dusted.
I have two gig bags that fit most of the 30+ guitars if/when I feel like taking one to a jam session. The original or the replacement cases are rarely used. Probably just keeping them all for selling.
Had other guitars decades ago, and always kept them in their cases, and the cases in closets. Then I was gigging regularly, but now it’s just doing jam sessions.
Not sure what changed, maybe different heating and storage? Or it’s maybe a shift from tools of the trade to functional art?

I have two small kids, a cat and a dog. I always store my guitar in a case. Moreover, it protects the instrument from dust, high/low temperatures and humidity. I found a good and inexpensive case thanks to these jackson guitars reviews. I was going to buy a new guitar and noticed that a lot of people use cases, so I decided to buy one. No regrets.

I do. Cases are great. They keep me from having to vacuum cleaning a part of the floor of my guitar room each week. Guitars hang at the slat wall..

A guitar case is the best place for a guitar that is not in use.

I always do, with each case individually humidified and checked. A long haired dog, a wily cat and more dust than you could shake a stick at keeps that in their cases when not in use. Besides, I had a freak accident with a newly acquired L7 C many years ago that made me a believer. I keep all of my guitars in one place, so keeping the cases isn't a problem.

I keep my main guitar in a case, which is placed inside a vault behind a false bookcase in a locked room in a separate detached building on my property. I am armed and the outbuilding includes an alarm system and camera, and a pit bull that I keep slightly hungry and maltreated at all times. I don’t mind getting out the guitar to play whenever I want.

I find having an Instrument Insurance policy much easier than all of that. Plus I am in no danger of being picketed by PETA activists.

I whole house humidify, year round , but keep all in cases, except….
1 parlor guitar, hangs on my LR wall for a quick grab and play on the sofa.
1 resonator on a stand in my music room. I’m the only one who goes in there.
One on each floor of the house, I guess.

What, no moat with alligators and pots with molten lead on standby?

I keep mine in the cases, but I rotate them with about 4 or 5 that are on stands in the area where I play.
