    Hi Guys,
I really cant put this guitar down.
I am in love with it in a massive way. I got this around the same time Fred got his.. And I've stopped whining about it. So here is a very different arrangement (than the old Barry Galbraith one I've been playing for years) of one of my favorite songs of all time. On the best guitar I could ever, ever ask for.
    I hope you like.

Nice Joe and seems to have a touch of Tony Mottola in the arrangement. If I remember correctly Tommy Tedesco said..............HE BE THE GODFATHER OF STUDIO GUITARIST...........

    The L5 sounds great.

Deacon, it has more than a touch of Tony.. it is Tony’s!
I have the Doc Severinson Tommy Newsome version of this song in my favs list. They performed the song the week Johnny passes away. I know the story about Tony teaching Johnny Carson who to play this song. It was a Johnnys fav too. So I thought to myself, I wonder what Tonys version would sound like. So I went on YouTube and not only found Tonys version, but I found one with sheet music! That made my life easy..
He lived 29 miles from where I’ve lived my whole life. What a beautiful player.
I think my guitar sounds better than his though..

SS, you know how much I wanted this guitar. More than anybody. Everything I do has to have meaning behind it. The songs, the guitars all must have meaning. My path was clear on the guitar. I wanted something that would not only great in every way musically, but it would also be something that I WANTED. If I want something, it’s because it satisfies the materialistic part. This guitar like my GJS, plugs all the holes.
    It’s not going anywhere.

    Wintermoon,
Yes sir it is. It was a very different time. There was good and bad. But the good was, REALLY GOOD. A classy time. I watched Johnny interviewing Ronald Reagan on the tonight show and I thought to myself, Man, times were different. Elegant. Johnny interviewing Doris Day. People who deserved every bit of there popularity.
WM, this guitar is my baby.

Oh yes, you WILL be keeping this guitar. You know how I know? You and I are in the same club of guys who had an L5, sold the L5, then realized it was a mistake so ended up buying another L5 to replace the one that shouldn't have been sold in the first place!

All the work and tears to get one back into your life, know you appreciate it and cherish it that much more. Congratulations my friend, I think this this axe is a keeper indeed and rightly so! I wrote you an L5 haiku. Maybe the first L5 haiku in the world:

    L 5 perfection
Why the f*** did I sell it?
    Grateful second chance

Ha! Beautiful playing Joe! May she bring you and others years and years of joy

That Doris Day interview is one of my favorites, big, big fan. Outstanding singer, actress, activist, lover of animals, and quite the looker, 52 here and still gorgeous. rip Dodo (her nickname by famed Philly dj Joe Niagra back in the day, they were very close)

p.s., watch when she restrains herself from beating the tar out of that airhead Carol Wayne

Doug, the sale of your Wes (to you) was no mistake. It has forged a great friendship between us that cannot be matched.
And God bless you for the Haiku..

Me too buddy. In all the years I watched that show, I NEVER saw Johnny as Smitten as he was with her.

Nice playing and nice sounding guitar !
Does the lack of L5 marking on the tailpiece affect positively or negatively the sound of the guitar ? We must consider a serious double-blind crossover comparison study before publication in a peer reviewed scientific journal.

    Joey,

Gorgeous sound and tasty arrangement. I love the way you let your guitar talk, take your time and let it ring.

I'm so happy you have the real thing in your hands.

    Best and take care.

    Wockster, Boy-oye-oyng!
Yeah, I am not even thinking about that anymore. Although I am glad to know it is a Gibson TP, I am kind embarrassed that I even brought it up. Thank you buddy.

Hi Gustavo, Thanks. I turned up the volume a hair and backed off the Tone by the same amount.
I think this is sound the guitar makes, and the recording captured it pretty accurately.
    Thanks GE.

I was really happy to put up another video along-side yours. Things are starting to heat up around here! 2 very different styles. On an L5. Your guitar is a world class guitar. As is your playing. You didn't show any face and I showed TOO MUCH!!
Love it bro. Thank You Freddy!

    Hahaa. I'll pass on that.
I still think an L5 Guitar is the only Guitar that deserves to wear the L5 moniker and the logo should appear on the tailpiece. But, I understand. Its all good.
