.. I would prefer something a bit lighter and made more for everyday city transport rather than flying.

The Mono bag is not made for flying and won't work as checked luggage. It protects from bumps but it's not crush proof. You could only fly with it if you could get your guitar inside the cabin somehow.

As for everyday, these can feel a bit bulky but they don't weigh much and they have good ergo's for schlepping about. Wouldn't really trust something with thinner foam or a less well designed neck / headstock lockdown. If I don't need the backpack strap or the pockets offered by the Mono I'll usually carry a Hiscox hard case as it offers more protection than any gig bag.
