That's the strangest pickguard that I've ever seen on a Gibson, but he sure gets a sweet sound from the guitar, using his thumb.

Copped this from much earlier pages in this thread. Is a perfect model for how I want my sound.

Have pretty much obtained it using my Eastman AR610CE Classic (floating Kent Armstrong pup, hidden knobs) on two of my ‘rigs’’:

1. New (to me) Ibanez Wholetone amp with Boss GT-1B as front end
2. Fender Princeton Reverb II, mid-boost pulled out but clean aside from that

I already have something close to it on my Katana, but will use this as a reference to hone it.
