Also, just something I'm starting to pick up on: Europeans may be surprised to know it just might be the case that Guitars here in America are starting to cost more than in Europe. The old times of America being less expensive then Europe may be over. That' something to consider.

Also, in looking up Eastman dealers I did find this store that is about three hours away from me in California.

    LA Guitar Sales

They seem to have quite a collection of archtops, which are generally hard to find for me. So, that's another direction to take. Thanks everyone.
That store has a very good rep on the Acoustic Guitar Forum. Lots of guys get their Martins there, good deals I hear.

If your looking for a great Jazz box; they come in many forms and they all don't have to break the bank. As many have said here, "used" can be the way to finding a great guitar you can't afford new! My budget has always been around $1200. So i write down all the guitars that people mention to me and ones I find thru the internet. Then I sit up late at night and "YouTube" em. You can find almost anything you want to hear on Youtube in all different forms. This has really given me a sense of how a guitar might sound. You have a lot of great chooses, but it takes a little research. YouTube is as close to hearing a guitar as you can get without actually having it in your hands. And there's no store where you can play every guitar. This help me eliminate the guitars I don't like and helps narrow the field. Good luck on the quest!!!

Or a real 175, as theyre about to shoot up in price as Gibson''s never going to make them again.
OP, I presume you have an EPI ES-175 Premium? I don't know of a "Pro" EPI. And there is a fairly big difference between a Premium and the previous years non-Premium models.

I'm not so sure Gibson is never going to make them again. They have skipped years of production before with other models, and with the recent glut of new ones, evidenced by the CMI blowouts that lasted quite a long time, considering, it would make sense to me that they suspend production until the market levels back out.

That all said, I'd still hold out for a used Gibson and shop carefully. But that's just me. I'm sure there are other brands that are perfectly fine.

Sounds like you are looking for a 175-style guitar. Take a look at the post I started last week on the same subject, lots of good suggestions. The overwhelming opinion seemed to be Heritage, and there is an Eagle (I don't recall which model) that's on Reverb right now for $1800, which seems like a steal.

If you are looking for a more vintage acoustic sound, Eastman AR-605, 610, 805 and 810s show up in your price range on occasion. Those models are acoustic, most have a floating pick-up that is easy to swap out if you out if you are completely happy with it. I think the later models are more prized. I used to have an early model acoustic oval hole that was great, but it was a victim of the recession and my kids crooked teeth.

I was never a fan of The Loar, but I recently tried their LH-700 model and was really impressed (around 1400 street new). Solidly built, lightweight, good acoustic sound and a nice amplified sound. But there is plenty of negativity out there, so maybe try the one you want to buy.

In addition to eBay and Reverb, Guitar Center occasionally gives a good price on their trade-ins because they are trying to move inventory quicker than individual sellers. Good idea to check their used stock from time to time.
