I think Ibanez make a nice box for the price, but i don,t like the newer f-holes as has been said, i like the GB line.

Absolutely -Unfortunately there are no decent Demos on Prestige Guitars for clean Tones that I have heard.

Another way over -performer mentioned in this Thread and always seems to get good Reviews on this Forum is Peerless.

This is a really good Guitar at this price point.

I was listening to some Ibanez LGB 30 Demos when I stumbled onto the Peerless vs. ES 175 Demo.

Generally are Peerless fairly consistent like Ibanez or nearly so ?

So far the most consistently over performing Brands are probably (1) Ibanez is and Peerless ?

I really like Demos where there is an ES 175 as a kind of 'reference' through the same signal/ recording chain even though people say 175's sound different from each other....( and there's that weird space between the Pickup and Fingerboard )- I seem to always like the Tone of 175s

The two Peerless guitars that I have owned (traded a Monarch 16 for a Jazz City) are great instruments with high quality builds at reasonable price points. The only drawback is the the finish may crack at the output jack. One of the big plusses of Peerless over Ibanez is that Peerless offers models with different scale lengths. Ibanez seems to limited to one which is a shorter scale than I prefer.

I have a JSM-10, and I don't find it to be too bright at all. Of course, you have to set your amp up properly but it's not that hard. I think the Super 58's are fantastic pickups. Every once in a while I start thinking about trying new pickups in there, but then I play it a bit and think, "But why? These sound great!"

Peerless has a 25.5" scale archtop with lots of sustain ?

The Jazz City is 25.5" and they make some other models with 25.5" scale lengths. Sustain might be subjective, but mine doesn't sound like I am chikin' pikin' it. It does have a smallish sound post so it isn't super loud unplugged, but it also doesn't feedback.

Here's some Peerless that are very impressive for the
$ AND more importantly , impressive period.

Patience on this Demo - he plays some Jazz later ( Jazz Players- do not listen to too much Doobie Brothers Rhythms before Demos ...lol ).

People say a little brighter than an ES 175 and longer sustain ..probably true ( I like sustain ) but definitely not a thin sounding Guitar.

GREAT 25.5" Scale Peerless called a Wizard - I would and might order this in H-S-H and have seen it in H-H.

It's not Ron Wood from the Rolling Stones.

But sounds really good in a 25.5" scale- inexpensive Guitar and even better ( for Phattness ) with Humbuckers and even better still IF they will make an H-S-H assuming Model is not discontinued.

I saw a Demo of Gibsob Johnny A and I would like it a lot with a Hardtail ...but I am surprised how thin the body is...in the Musician's Friend Demo...and very expensive.

Agree 100% - Ibanez for example is the one Guitar Company where some of the Signature Guitars actually Sound like the Famous Guitarist !

I have been listening to some Demos of the LGB30 Chinese Benson Sig Guitars and almost every talented Player sounds quite a bit like GB - the Tones
not the one in a million 'Time Feel ' etc etc.

In fact for $800 to $1000 new ...it's an Overperformer for the $ IMO.

It sounds so much like GB I find a slight disadvantage just for me personally ..I could have a lot of fun Playing it ...but for Recording...could be a disadvantage.

The Andy Timmons AT 10 and AT 100 Ibanez actually sound a lot like Timmons also and the Metheny Models ..the dark smoothness..

Indicates Ibanez really knows what they are doing though ..IMO.

Will be interesting to see what they come up with in 2018.

The Prestige Canada Guitars will be going to a Spruce Center Block on their Semis in 2018 and I HOPE and asked them to Swiss Cheese the Center Blocks to let the Air inside vibrate as one piece rather than 2 Halves like the 335.
Supposedly this is why the Sadowsky Semi sounds closer to a Archtop than most Semi Hollows.

IF they do this the NYS Semihollow and the 25.5" Scale Semis could be really special.

Interesting advice, do you have experience with Prestige guitars? What was their response? Did they offer you a job?

Seriously, Deviser uses this technique on some of their 77 Exrubato (335) models (mine, for example). I think I already mentioned that in another thread. It is not a Swiss cheese.

    Agreed!

I got my first guitar in 1966. Believe me: it was even worse back then!

The irony, imho: Nowadays a young person can get a really nice playing, nice sounding guitar for a very reasonable price. So naturally, it seems that not so many young people want to take up the instrument!

No experience with them but I am interested in the 25.5" Scale 20 fret Guitar because IF the Resonance
is high enough and deep enough it will do what I want it to do in Recordings ..

I asked the USA Distrubutor for 77 to have Deviser to make a 25.5" scale but he said it would require a lot of R&D....no 25.5 " Scale Hawk possible .

I sent him a few clips of the Marchionne Semi ...and would prefer probably a Hawk Fat in 25.5 "..

I finally got a neck measurement on a 77 and am considering one of the Hawks -once I make sure I can do all my stuff on a Huge Neck lol.

Also I would prefer the neck PU in the Neck Position
not imitating a 175 and to have the Bridge moved toward Middle...or Better yet an H-S-H archtop ...

Also Swiss Cheese is not how they really do it ...I think ( Center Block )it is scalloped on top and bottom.

I love the Tones and Sustain on the Seventy Sevens..
And the advantage is I can get a Fat Lead Instrument sound with no distortion / gain etc just clean
and then make it more transparent for overdubs Rhythms etc etc.( I have done this before to good effect with other Guitars ) never an Arch though.

In the 1980's I got Neil Moser from BC Rich to build me a H-S-H Model based on 1 of their Guitars - and they were a well known Company..

I'd like something cheaper if I can get the Tonez I want for what I do now.

Did Deviser offer you a Job...?

Corporations generally do NOT want unsolicited advice - because they get usually naive ( or worse )
People saying they invented locking tuners or rubber soles on shoes a year later lol.

Corporations , Ad Agencies , Record Companies do not accept nor want Unsolicted Material and there are Legal Channels and /or other things that must be met..they get laymen and non pros saying they came up with the Geico Lizard with some HalfBrained Attorney lol...it's not done that way , yes I have experience ....no I will not list the Companies here I have done Music for ....

Prestige has some well crafted Instruments for about a Grand as does Peerless....I don't crave being a Guitar Designer or Salesman ....

I heard some great Tones recently on Youtube from an Ibanez Archtop including a great Fingerpicked Sound which I thought was a LGB30 -
BUT it was the very expensive LGB300 ..they are over $4000 and even used they are often $ 3000!

Where did you get it from that 77 guitars have a Huge Neck? Actually, it is a very comfortable neck to play. I prefer it above my Eastman.

youtube videos are really a poor way to judge instruments, there's always the recording process involved, youtube with its added compression, the playing is often at a poor acoustic environment, very low volumes, no other instruments.. etc.. And often it's people trying to sell you something. I put greater value at the opinions of actual players and owners that kind of do the thing i want to do with the guitar (meaning playing at home if i want to play at home with it, or gigging if i want to gig with it)

Well not huge but beefy- bigger than the ( most )137

Jack Z was nice enough to measure his at about .89 at first fret and going to .99 at 11th fret or so.

So I would need to play something that big to make sure...

I have small hands - ES 137 felt fine though ..is your Exrubato a big neck ?

I am NOT throwing away tens of thousands of hours of woodshedding for ANY guitar ..lol.

If it's like the Exrubato Jazz - no 335 will hang with it.

And the regular Exrubato with the Stoptail is really sweet sounding in demos but not like Exrubato Jazz.

Somebody at Deviser/ 77 has some big ears I forget the name but they have a Jazz Hollow Les Paul looking Guitar and there's a Guy getting Metheny-ish tones from it on Youtube ...

Youtube can tell you some things.. generally if someone can get a good tone I will generally be able to get something at least that good...not because of any great talent but just that I have done lots of amateur and pro recording over a long time.

Certainly Online Demos are better than nothing -but you have to listen to quite a few sometimes..
and my primary use for another Guitar is recording...
