For recording, I really like that blended sound you have there. My guess it's what Joe Pass was after on Virtuoso, but the electric signal got lost or whatever.
For live situations, I think the electric humbucker sound is still king...plug and play, no need for preamps, tweaking, etc.
Nice playing, nice guitar!

I was afraid someone would bring up Virtuoso on this thread!
Thanks for the kind words Jeff. I agree about the electric for louder volumes; this tone won't cut through with a band playing. More of a solo type thing.

That's a very nice Pisano!
I like all three sounds, a lot. I really like the blended sound. The K&K alone is also quite nice.
I think you will be very happy if you get a good, small battery preamp. They are unobtrusive and permit you to (1) boost the K&K to meet the output level of the mag pickup, or (2) balance the levels of the two transducers before going into the amp--depending upon how sophisticated a preamp you choose.

Ditto, thanks for the test examples, very cool!

Enjoy that instrument as I enjoyed your playing. And I, too, am a fan of the blended pickup sound.
One question - in your experience is the Pisano guitar neck comparable to any other instrument you have played regularly? I was surprised to see how "light" it was and easy to play fingerstyle.Last edited by Veritas; 05-08-2017 at 06:22 PM.

The closest thing I have to compare it to is other Eastmans. Something about the wider nut and flatter radius feels to me like a classical, which is what I am more accustomed to. Even among my Eastmans, however, the Pisano is definitely the easiest to play. If this one is out of your budget, you should look at the 380. You will have less acoustic tone, but the neck should be the same specification.
