    Dear fellow jazz guitarists,

"Jazz Verde Milonga" is my last acquisition, an archtop designed and crafted by Dutch luthier Daniel Slaman. She's joined the herd last June.

I guess she has a kinda "love or hate" look. Personaly I found her just stunning when I saw her for the first time. As forher look, better refer to the pictures I have inserted before the video, the light was just horrible this evening in my studio during the shooting.

Now the tone...She my one and only archtop harboring a humbucker (Kent Armstrong), my others guitars being all equipped with CC pickups. The tone has a ton of sustain, and what a mellow voice.

Mr. Slaman is a nasty guitar crafter, that's for sure.

    Cheers.

Well, I thought it sounded out of tune and the buzzing-------wait a minute. Sorry, I was listening to one of my own recordings. The color isn't bad at all. Don't forget, it's not easy being green. I love the sound. Slaman it truly slammin' . I just wish I had the dollars to have him make me something of my own. This one's a keeper

Put me down on the "love" side of that l/h dichotomy! I like the shade.

I watched Metheny burnin' up his Slaman in concert last week in Los Angeles. Sweet, fine sounds all around.

    Congratulations! Long may she jazz!

The bridge is made of mammoth ivory (which is legal) and the tailpiece is ebony with inlays reproducing Italy (the guitar is dedicated to Paolo Conte a great italian jazz singer & pianist). I am also including a pic of the head which is a true work of art).

I suspected something like that, but all I could see for sure from the video was that it is white. Yes, mammoth ivory is fine, although on the expensive side. It's commonly used for nuts, but I've never seen a bridge made from it. Beautiful craftsmanship, and a lot of work.

The Slaman Jazz Verde Milonga sounds as beautifully jazzy as it looks.

I wish I could bottle the tone and sell it as jazz pedal!

Very nice playing and great guitars, or maybe I should say great playing and very nice guitars. There's quite a few players playing Slamans here in his home town (The Haque) and the ones I tried are all great without exception.

What are those nice backing tracks with the Hammond? Where can we find those?

    Hi Little Jay

I am using here a backing trcak from the Aebersold collection (Vol 123 Now's the time). B3 is played by the great Joey DeFrancesco

Daniel Slaman - Jazz Verde Milonga-vol-123-aebersold-jpg

Originally this backtrack has also a comping guitar (right channel) but I have cancelled this right channel just to give more space to my guitar.

I warmly recommend another Aebersold series with the same Joey DeFrancesco trio. It's vol. 118 - Groovin Jazz.

These 2 volumes are absolutely exquisite to play with.

    Best.

Now let's see if I can make my ES-125 sound as good as your Slaman (And I can only hope to play as well too.)

ES 125 are so good guitars with their P90 equipped. I am always lurking at them on Reverb.com. One day maybe...

Enjoy your 2 new Aebersold books + backtracks ! These 2 volumes are amongst the best ever produced in this series.

    Cheers.

IMHO, you don't get much better jazz tone than the Verde tone right there.

Any guitar played by you Fred, I'm in...big fan here!

Being a piano player I love the keyboard themed fretboard, and of course your usual stellar playing. Congratulations on adding one more exceptional tool to the arsenal. That must be quite the collection you now have.
