My alarm woke me up at 6am as usual. After going to the bathroom, I played my Ibanez before getting to work.
After I was done playing it, I wondered..
"The guys on the jazz forum are nuts!"
But seriously.. The feel of an Ibanez can not be equaled. There is a solidness to it that defies logic. You feel like while your playing it, if your wife attacks you with a frying pan when she learns how many guitars you have, you can use it as a sabre...well, because it's shaped like one and it's what Ibanez calls that shape (check out how thin it is w/ hardtail!). I use my stack of Reeves Fire breathing amps as a shield...nuclear forcefield actually. And then I put it back in the case because I really do need to go to work now or I'll be late... There is nothing in the world that feels like an Ibanez with a Wizard neck. When you have one in your hands on a gig you feel privileged to even just have a gig that pays or even just gives a free meal. All the interconnected parts form a guitar that is almost impossible to explain...unless you're a luthier I suppose.
Nothing beats an Ibanez. Nothing comes close to the feel of a Ibanez...unless Ibanez isn't really your bag.
(Sorry, I couldn't resist either

Here's mine in front of my Acoustic Super Eagle. Check out how thin it is. Very light and great clean pickups. Dreamy to play. Plus an amazing bang for the buck if purchased used.

Ibanez jazz guitars rules for sure. John Scofield? Can you get that tone on a, ummm, let's say a Gibson 335? Close enough, but not really. So where does it leave us? The Ibanez feel can't be matched!

I'm actually chomping at the bit waiting for Fryette's take on HiWatt. He bought the Sound City name and plans for a release later this year. He talks about the search for ever louder and CLEANER amps. I recently picked up a Deliverance 120. The guy really is an amp savant. Here he is talking about it...

does this mean you're finally ready to part with that lonely acoustic SE? Okay, a guy can ask

It has to be said though, Ibanez guitars are exceptionally good guitars, especially at their price. Broke a string on my Gibson so I picked up my now dusted-down old favorite, an early 2000's Ibanez AF 75. Hadn't played it for months, but it was still perfectly in tune and even worse, sounded great with my rig. D'oh!

Trade straight up for your red L5? I heard the Gibson feel is up there with Ibanez.

Ask George Benson what he thinks... I can tell you those little GBs are really fat sounding.
Ibanez definitely has it going on.

I agree that Ibanez guitars have a great, solid, well crafted feel, especially on their MIJ models. Next to Heritage and Gibson, my favorite guitars are Ibanez products. That said, I've never bonded with any of their rock-oriented guitars like your Sabre, but that's a stylistic thing more than a comment about quality, feel, etc. I do own a couple of thin-bodied gits (Roger Giffins), but nowhere near as skinny as your pretty Sabre.

Mike, still one of the most beautiful guitars ever.

I gotta agree with the OP about the Ibanez S5521. I have the prior version - no quilt top, but still a Prestige. I played one years ago and it was one of the few guitars that haunted me for 6 or 7 years. Finally got one last winter.

I'm on board -- my Ibby leading my tiny pack:
Not the best guitar I've ever owned, but I love the neck -- nice and round, no Wizardry here (can't get along with those very well). The neck pickup has nice glassiness, too, on the right amp setting, clear and still sumptuous.Last edited by Thumpalumpacus; 09-03-2016 at 04:29 AM.

If only they made those superstrats w something like a fender neck. Always loved the Saber design, never got along with the neck.
The mij semis and hollwbodies are second to none
