I've got a glorious 535 and 575. (As well as a nice '44 L7 and a recent Smeck reissue. So I ain't no Gibsophobe...)
I think someday I want an L5. But then again, this used Golden Eagle...

Were I buying new, I'd look at Heritage before Gibson, myself. But as ESCC says above, I love 'em all. Every guitar has a voice usable for something, and the choke on my shotgun is wide-open.

The Heritage Feel...

Oh, and one more...

I don't currently get to try out a lot of guitars but when I was looking for a LP years ago, the shop manager (who I trusted) told me to check out a "Heritage 150CM" first - oh. I had that guitar for about 25 years and loved everything about it except the Schaller roller bridge. Feel, mojo in spades.

The Schaller roller bridge has its merits, but it probably isn't the best for the LP style of guitar unless a vibrato is involved. I do like the roller bridge when I want to alter the string spacing. It is well engineered but heavy and without a crisp slot for optimal sustain and higher frequencies. Easy swap though.

I'm happy with my L5CES now, the exact same nut width but gone is the cramped feeling. And the neck is chunkier, which I like. I still love Heritage though, and still own one. I wish you well on your Heritage spree. The company deserves the love they get in this forum lately.

that smokey sunburst Eagle with the block inlays is far and away the nicest I've seen! It looks more like a Golden Eagle with silver hardware and a tailpiece mod. Congrats bro!

I have since replaced the pickgard, and HRW (Heritage Rendal Wall) pickups (which I found to be too bright and beamey) in favor of Lindy Fralin humbuckers. The neck pickup is a special wind Humbucker with A3 AlNiCo magnets wound to 8.2 Kohms, and the bridge pickup is a Lindy Fralin Unbucker (5.0 + 3.5 Kohms).
The Super KB has the best tone of any guitar I have owned & played, except possibly for a 1974 ES-175 I once had.
For added mojo, It has Kenny's signature on the inside too!!!

A Golden Eagle with chrome hardware, that's exactly what it is. Can't know for sure but I think it was ordered with that tailpiece. As close to an L5 CES as it gets but I still sold it to get the Gibson. No regrets. I like the L5 better as a guitar, not because of the headstock or the name on it.

Some guitars sound good just lookin' at 'em. That's one right there ^^^.

(I just realized I never played a guitar bigger than 17". I gotta fix that...)Last edited by Flat; 09-06-2016 at 03:43 AM.

I'm no expert on this stuff, but with 2 Heritage guitars here, can contribute.
As brilliantly adjusted and setup by my luthier friend, my blueburst 2004 or so H575 custom has a more or less perfect feel to me. A 1 11/16" nut width, not at all skinny depth back to front, but at the same time not clubby. It fits my hand, and playability thoughts fade as soon as I start playing. Nothing skinny, unbalanced, or inartistic about this guitar at all. One of the smarter decisions I ever made was to disengage the "what, a blue guitar???" thing and take the plunge. Love this instrument!
Same thing, minus setup, on the H525. It feels completely right.
Everybody has opinions, and every right to those opinions. I won't quibble with the anti Heritage stuff, but cannot relate to it at all. Every Heritage I've picked up so far has been a seriously good guitar.

Instead of us just posting pics of our own Heritages, I thought folks would enjoy this vid of the ultimate guitar tone endorsement (and yes I know a Gibbie video thread would be endless):
