looking at these 2.
Tried the Epi @ GC -- kind of an odd feel (quality?)to the wood.
Didnt' mind the matte finish...a little unusual but differernt in a good way.
The neck seemed nice.- all in all a little underwhelmed for the $$.
leaning towards the Ibanez LGB 30....but haven't played it yet.
I have the PM2 and that is excellent guitar for the money.
Ibanez is pretty consistent with Quality.
...any thoughts?Last edited by jazzimprov; 09-10-2015 at 05:00 PM. Reason: typo

I saw both. Wasn't a fan of the matte on the Epi.
Nice guitar though.
The little Georgie Benson, thoroughly impressed. Well made, well appointed well finished and a neck made for God.
I don't know how they make guitars that nice at that price point.
Either one is good. Good luck and have fun!!!!

I personally prefer the LGB30 owned one for just over a year before my friend took a liking to it, the only problem I found was the tailpiece it started to develop cracks in the metal hinge so I changed it for a metal harp style tailpiece.
-
In this case I would try to play a couple of each (if possible) and base my choice on playability (comfort, neck ...) and tone. If you target the 175 tone, the Epi might prove a better choice provided you like the feel of the guitar.

What's wrong with the PM2?

"What's wrong with the PM2?"
...nothing, great guitar.
very deep sound to it...
I'm thinking of selling the Godin ACS Slim (2013-mint) for the LGB 30
I'm thinking the LGB 30 would have quite a different sound to it --brighter etc....
Noticed the pick guard on the natural seems less bulky and large than the sunburst model.. and a more natural dark color...
Do they ever swap out pick guards then ship-- the natural pick guard for the one the sunburst...?Last edited by jazzimprov; 09-11-2015 at 09:48 AM.

I'm impatiently waiting for the lgb30 in natural finish to become available in-store. That is likely going to be the next guitar I purchase.
-
That would be what I would get also.
-
Please lessen my ignorance, what does the "L" stand for in LGB?
-
Heard it in a review. Little - as in Little Georgie Benson a reference to a guitar from early in his career.
-
They really could have picked a better acronym...

Little Georgie Benson it is :-

I played the LGB 30 yesterday while checking out a blues pedal, really nice guitar played wonderfully the neck/fretboard was great.
The only thing I would change is the pick guard, I would prefer black.
-
Have you finally bought a LGB30?
-
ended up with the PM2
....like the darker tone

here's one "LGB" reference interview regarding the original naming of the LGB10

May be looking to sell my Peerless Monarch 2013 16 SB (practically mint) --to get a LGB30 but already own a Epi 175 premium
are these too much alike to have one of each?
Love the Peerless but not completely happy with the acoustic tone (practice acoustically most of the time)
although it sounds great plugged in
-
I don't think you'll be particularly impressed with the acoustic tone of the laminated Ibanez guitars.
-
The Ibanez PM2 is quite loud acoustically when I play. (Louder than the Epi 175 and Peerless)
(Was hoping the LGB30 would be similar)
The PM2 is so easy to play that I wanted to get a variation on this theme)
Is this a difference in the build?
-
My GB10SE sounds ok as an acoustic, in the dead of night, but it will get over powered by a cat fart.
-
I'd sooner have an Ibanez LGB30 than an Epi ES175.
-
The PM2 has only one pick-up, typically gives you more acoustic volume than two pick-ups as per the LGB30
-
Great guitar, but prepare to replace the tail piece when it breaks. Mine cracked within 6 months and replaced it before it snapped.

Kind of an unusual sound acoustically on the Peerless Monarch 16 --sounds great with amp but a little 'different' w/o.
anyone else think the tone is unique? (if you have heard this particular model you will know what I mean)Last edited by jazzimprov; 06-14-2016 at 03:14 PM.
