Hi Rob,
When I first acquired my Mambo (12) I too was puzzled as to why I could not get
the sound I wanted using my Es 330 (reissue ) I thought that there was a problem
the guitar, However I found that Archtops were the complete opposite, a wonderful
tone and volume.
I put the 330 through my 10 year old Evans AE100 ( sadly discontinued ) the versatility
of this amp is legendary , so much so each of my guitars sound very good through it ;
it is old fashioned analogue SS with a 10"Beta, and very small but mightily powerful.
Despite this I love the quality of the Mambo with an Archtop it is superb.
I hope that you find a suitable amp for your ES345, i expect you've tried the Fenders etc
( I can't even lift a Mesa Boogie !) there are a number of good amps but narrowing it down
by .price ,weight & suitability is time consuming.
Good luck, let us know what you decide upon.

Cheers, Mr Fox. I played a Blues Junior III on Saturday, and was very impressed...didn't buy it, but I'll be going back to try it again.

Hi again Rob,
Just to say I have been evaluating two Boss/Fender pedals this week,
at first not hugely impressed, but tonight I gave it a shot with the
Es 330 through the Mambo 12 with the pedals in front of the amp
each livened up the guitar/amp combination considerably, the pedals
are 1} a FDR-1 (Fender deluxe Reverb emulator )
2) a FB-1 (Fender '59 tweed Bassman simulator )
if your local shop has them in stock I suggest they're worth a try to
see if you like either? Your views will be appreciated.
(btw) loved the tone of your 345 on the vid you posted, very tasteful.
Kind regards
Silverfoxx

Thanks, and thanks. I'll certainly try them out.

Going direct you need a high impedance input on the mixer. If not available, throw any old buffered stomp box in between and keep it off.

Am I the only one who would just plug into the PA? One voice, one guitar, <50 audience?
All these pedals seem like overkill.

Just depends on what tone you want. IMO amps like the Acoustic Image sound basically like a PA. Pedals like the Ethos and Joyo just let you get a Fenderish sound without having to haul around an amp.
