Hey Tom,
how about one of those 10" speakers from Eminence, Red Coat series?
Just a thought in case you want to look into.

Thanks, but I already tried their Ragin Cajun (Patriot series).
I am going to order the Weber Cali 10 tonight.
But if eminence ever comes out with an 8 ohm, 10" version of this:

I'll be all over it!Last edited by Tom Karol; 11-18-2013 at 11:11 AM.

Is that the little brother of the Eminence 1258, the one that Henriksen put in the BluesAmp?

Tom got my EV... it's perfect for what you want. Much tighter bass, perfect mids and the treble things are less fat (which is perfect for me) but have more extended highs... I think an EV Force 10 would be easy to find on the US, not very expensive and not very heavy too.. and 150w it's much safer. Go for it!

Thanks Jorge, but I already ordered the Weber California 10 (paper dome, 8 ohms, 80 watts). I expect it to sound great, and I don't expect to blow it - but if I do, I'll know that the EV Force 10 is what I need. Franz/Chris's link seems to have a few (4) of them at $150 (scroll down 4 or 5 pages):

And by the way - just in case
- from the Weber Website:
"The reconing price for WeberVST products is $25 plus return shipping and handling, any model, any age.
Reconing of any speaker includes:
Demag, Clean, Remag
Replace all soft parts (cone, gasket, voice coil, etc.
Replace damaged terminals
Full testing."Last edited by Tom Karol; 11-21-2013 at 10:48 AM. Reason: Yes

Great Tom! Why not going with the 16 ohms version? That way you'd be safe for sure!
I am curious to hear your opinion on that speaker
-
Good question, Jorge! The answer is that I like the way that amp reacts and sounds with the volume between 8:30 and 10:00 O'Clock, which should be right in the speaker's comfort zone. I don't want to have to drive the amp harder, and I'm willing to be careful not to over-drive the speaker. I have experience with the same speaker in a 12, so I pretty much know what to expect. Stay tuned ... !

Mikey - the first thing I did when I got the used JazzAmp 110 to supplement my 112 was to put a Ragin Cajun in it. I liked the sound of the Ragin Cajun for pop/blues, but I ended up getting carried away with volume and a boost effect one day and blew the speaker
.

Right, Tom, also missed the wattage issue. I play mine through SCX2, only 15 W and sounds trully amasing! But have you thought of a 15"? I so adore that smooth-velvet sound getting out from a 400W speaker not driven even a quarterpower...

If my amp was in a head-only format, I would perhaps get 3 cabinets 1x10, 1x12, and 1x15.

Hi! I´m new in the forum. I learned a lot from all you, and want to do my little contribution. Look at SICA loudspeakers:
Lundgaaramps (http://www.lundgaardamps.com/) use them, I think the neodymium type. Would they work in a Henriksen Jazzamp 110? What do you think?
-
Hello hiblai - welcome!
I'm not familiar with Sica speakers, but I looked at their spec sheets. Sure, it seems they would work in a JazzAmp 110, but they seem to be relatively inefficient (<97db), so the amp wouldn't be quite as loud. I remain increasingly pleased with the performance of the Weber California in that amp, though I only have the Eminence Beta 10A and Ragin Cajun to compare it too (and I like it better than either of those).
-
Thanks for the information, Tom!

SICA owns Jensen. I'd never heard of SICA until a particular model of SICA speaker became all the rage over on the Steel Guitar forum. Those guys are always looking for clean, clean, sound and wide dynamic range. What often suits those guys also happens to be a good fit for jazz guitar. I think it was a neo 15" speaker that got everyone's attention over there.

This week, after 2 years of searching for a tone that pleased my ears in the JazzAmp ten, I solved the problem.
I inserted a JHS preamp pedal with eq (The Clover) + delay and reverb in the FX loop of the JazzAmp.
The eq with a brighter setting in the FX Loop changed everything.
The tone has opened just like a Fender amp. Finally, I´m happy with my amp. Recommend trying this trick before changing the speaker.

I sold my JazzAmp 110 and bought a Bud 6 a few years ago. I now have my old JazzAmp 112 and the Bud 6, both with the stock Eminence speakers, and I'm quite content!
