I tried to talk someone into letting me put chicken head knobs on their new guitar but he wanted something a bit more elegant. I got together with David King to come up with a solution. This is what we came up with.

I like 'em! Even without the inlay I like the eccentric design and the stain is nice against the guitar. Good choice!

They make me smile because they are SO cool, completely in harmony with the guitar and unique...

What a very cool idea! They look great.

As far as chicken heads go....I've seen them in brown... Hmmmm...

    Jim, you're such a tease!
    Who is David King?
Are they available to us mortals?
How do I git me some?

David King is a very fine bass maker here in Portland. He has a shop full of some of the most unusual machinery imaginable that allow him to make all sorts of interesting small parts out of wood and metal. Any time you've seen unusual parts on our guitars over the last four or five years, it's a good bet that it's something I cooked up and David turned into reality. He has two websites, one for his basses
David King Bass Guitars Home Page

and one for his knobs and custom parts
    Solid Knob Gallery Page

Feel free to call him and tell him you want knobs like the pointers he made for me (or any other cool idea you may come up with)

Gorgeous without a doubt-I just can't spend $18 dollars on a control knob!

Nor do you have to. It's just a matter of how important aesthetics are to you. From a purely functional standpoint, these work as well or better and you can get them for about $1 each.

I couldn't agree more! They make your guitars "pop" I might add!

Nice; if there's one thing better than a good tool, it's a good looking good tool.

I don't think these would work well for me. I use my pinky for rolling - switch pickups roll up, switch pickups roll down - so having a round knob is more practical. But they do look cool!

Those look great! Very nicely done.

Please forgive me if I post a pic of my cool knobs. They came off my wife's grandmother's Truetone console radio.

I like aesthetically pleasing stuff and these knobs are up there on the scale.

There is a Barney K. video where he describes how much he likes the old tube radio knobs on his guitar.

Thanks, Ron. Soloway Guitars are amazing instruments. Jim keeps finding ways to make them more comfortable, lighter, easier to play, and sounding better.
