TC should really release a good spring toneprint... I tried the Spring Devil today and it's fine but I mean a really good one. it's the major flaw on the pedal, most people only have that complaint. The RV7 has a better spring but the other modes are not as good... it sounds more digital to me than the HOF and it's quite larger.I don't know where you live but Thomann has a pedalboard power supply with 5 outlets for 30€. It's excellent!

What about the Spring (forget its name) by Steve Morse?
-
It's a very good reverb but not exactly a spring reverb emulator... but it's quite nice. His beautiful reverb is very good too!
-
Yes, I tried the Beautiful Reverb by Steve Morse and I think it is quite nice.

The Guitar Center settings (called Royal, Parliment, Passage, & Seasons) are excellent short tailed verbs that really lend themselves to classic jazz tone. I like it a lot.
The Arena is supposed to be a guitar center exclusive but I've also seen it at Sweetwater. . . got mine from Woodwind/Brasswind.

Good to know

Still using the Hall of Fame, about a year and a half after I picked one up. Good pedal. Like with many reverb pedals, not a good idea to play a four hour gig on batteries...but good sounds...the spring is very Fendery, turned my princeton into a princeton reverb that stays cleaner cranked...I like the room settings for jazz with my henriksen or polytone.

Think noise gate. Gate has reverb until the signal gets quiet enough then the reverb disappears. This seems backwards; how about having reverb when you hold a note or chord but have it back off when playing lines of notes?

I was also using "Mod" before I got my chorus pedal, but it just dwells too long. If I ever figure out the editor I might try tweaking that. (Unlikely!)
On Toneprint, I was goofing on Sunday and downloaded Jet 3000 (or some name like that). Crank the tone and depth and you get crazy sitar flanging. It's like some Japanese girl is rubbing against your fretboard. Strictly shoegaze.Last edited by BigDaddyLoveHandles; 10-16-2013 at 01:38 PM.

I really like the Mad Professor Silver Spring. It's simple, nicely controllable, and sounds great. I like to set the tone knob all the way down for a darker spring reverb sound. The other direction gets you more of a cleaner studio reverb.
-
Sounds good on clips! Funny I always associated spring reverbs to brightness and studio ones to darkness...

It's sounding good!! But actually for this more atmospheric sound I rather have a much subtler verb and a delay doing the trails...
-
So sometimes things just seem destined... in two days I find two used Spring Theory pedals. Got one but will only have it on Christmas - will report then. Selling my RV7 meanwhile, I am keeping the HOF and the Spring Theory.
-
So the Spring Theory is only supposed to have two reverbs, spring and room.

HI everybody ,
I am looking for â good reverb pedal to up grade the one i havé on my dv little jazz.
I saw that gilad hekselman (i lové his sound) Is using nano holy grail but the 9,6 voltage should not feet with the pedal board i am building .
I lové also metheny sound and all more "modern" sounds. I Would Iike to combine this pedal with my mxr delay and also my TS808 . I am Playing on GB10.
For now pedals i havé sélected according to vids and threads are:
Mad professor silver spring reverb
Mxr new reverb
Strymon reverb
Neunaber wet reverb
All those boxes are quite expensive so i Would Like to Know Which option you have choosen to give your sound this kind of atmosphère that mâke you fligth ?
Regards
-
The mad professor is awesome for that spring reverb sound (which, I guess, is not modern). For a versatile reverb with great sounds the tc hall of fame in either the full or the mini version is great.
-
I have tried so many reverb options. Many good ones out there. My top pick is the Mad Professor Silver Spring reverb. It's not really spring, more a combination of hall and plate sounds. Whatever the name, it has a perfect reverb presence and warmth for how I hear things.
Other favorites:
- The original, one knob Hermida reverb pedal, if you can find one
- Catalinbread Topanga, at 18 volts (most spring like, not harsh and clangy like so many other spring pedals)
- Red Panda Context (in terms of sound quality and warmth, right up there with the Silver Spring ... doesn't have a spring setting)
On the cheaper side, the Digitech Hardwire RV-7 would be an excellent choice. They're around used, not expensive. Some very useable settings here, especially the spring sound.

Don't worry about the 9.6 volt, all 9 volt pedals are actually 9.6 volt.. so you can use a regular power supply with the nano grail.
Most reverb pedals are excellent these days... for the best quality for the price I would go with a TC Hof or a Digitech Polara. The new Neunaber reverb sounds amazing too.
Good luck!Last edited by jorgemg1984; 09-08-2016 at 07:17 AM.

Hall of Fame mini , best bang for the € ;-) small, cheap and on stage you won't hear much difference between this and the much more expensive models from Neunaber etc.
-
check out the Strymon Flint-
has three different reverb modes, and I think it would fit yr bill
and the quality is worth every cent
-
I love reverb but also simplicity. On the gig, drummer banging, who listens to decays and pre-reverbs or is it a plate or a spring emulation?
A real spring reverb is great but sometimes unachieveable. Then I take my HOF Mini and use its basic hall. Isn't the spring reverb originally just imitating hall anyway?
I had one knob Hermida for years. Recently I had an opportunity to ab it with a Rocket Pedal Boing, one knob wonder too. It was a bit more natural so I sold the Hermida and got the Boing in my rock rig.
-
+1 on the Catalinbread "Topanga."
-
I ended up with a Digitech Polara, because I found one cheap used.
It has turned out to be a great reverb pedal.
