I got sooooo many cables lying around, and I get tired of trying to read which is which, and many are not even marked. Do you folks mark one or the other somehow? I'm thinking of wrapping both ends of all my speaker cables with one certain color tape. Is there a standard color that traditionally represents speaker vs instrument?

I only need short (+/- 1m) speaker cables, so that's easy; just in case, though, I get them in "colors," so I know the "bright blue" is speaker, not instrument.

Back in my punk days I used to mark my SM57 with electrical tape. So the sound guy would know I wasn’t stealing their mic.
I didn’t want to use a mic someone just shoved down their pants in an artistic expression of nihilism.
The tape would get beer soaked and covered in sweat. But held fine.
Or you could get heat shrink. I would pick one color for speaker and not mark instrument cable. Much safer to accidentally use a speaker cable with an instrument than vice versa.
