Found it surprising too: in that recent Rick Beato interview video it really looks like Kurt is running Logic Pro in the studio. I honestly expected him to use Pro Tools, especially in a professional setup with lots of outboard. In my head PT was always the ‘logical’ choice for that kind of workflow.

How was he getting quarter tone voicings? The only way I can think of is to bend individual notes within a chord, which is pretty hard to do well.

I know a ton of people who have moved to Logic over the last few years. I also see a lot of people using Cubase, especially on the PC side. I think the days of PT dominance are pretty much over.

I think he meant to say "quartal" (not quarter tone) chord voicings.

You got a few forum members all excited....

"What, there's a new guitar pedal that will split your notes into quarter tones! Where can I get it?!"

Not a pedal but Itamar Erez has two extra partial frets that allow him to play a total of 10 different 1/4 tones.

Well, if you're only going to play simple harmonies, you may not need frets at all, and there are guitars that are designed for playing microtones such as the scalloped fret acoustic guitar that John McLaughlin played with Shakti:

Not to sidetrack the conversation, Jim, but those were completely unknown musicians to me. Amazing stuff! Thanks!
