I'm looking for a stand to hold guitars in their cases. archtop and classical. I only have two though.
the stands I see all seem to be for four or more. There are some for two but of course they are all made out of fancy hard wood and too expensive.
I'm open to any suggestions, but basically I have 2 guitars that I want to keep in their cases. My wife wanted to hang them on the wall but I'm not comfortable with that. It's a nice den so it can't just be on the floor

It cant be too hard to build something if your handy. They are already protected so you just need a way to rig them either vertical or horizonal

I hadn't even thought about that lol

It might be as simple as something to lean against.

As I think about it there is one annoying thing about shelves and that is that the case as to open so it makes for a lot of wasted air space.
If I were doing shelves Id mount the shelf on long drawer glides so each can be pulled out and opened leaving the case in place...if that happens to also be your practice room. If you are taking the case and guitar out then there is no need for movable shelves. It really comes down to your needs. Building something is really a nice personal customization to make life convienient.

I'm a cabinetmaker so I tend to think inside the box :) It can be as simple as a 5 sided one, w/ taller sides to stop them tipping sideways, and lower front for easy access. Open top of course. The top of the case leans against the wall behind. I have 4 that sit in an old trunk like this.

The simplest solution…
Just lean ‘em against the wall.
PS:
I think cases would look terrible mounted on the wall

If you can find a 3-guitar rack that you can remove the dividers from, that should work.
-
This might work. If you have a saw, you could lop off part of the right and left in-between dividers. Personally, I think this looks nice.

Post #6 might be it, but I'll have to wait and see what furniture we'll get.
Attach the case to the wall might be cool! fix it to the wall so it is like a little locker lol

Exactly what I was thinking - we must be missing something in the original question.

There are many self-adhesive wall protection products out there. On surfaces to which they adhere, I use strips of clear electrostatic plastic sheet that cling to the wall without adhesive. There are also many such products with gentle adhesive on the back. Just Google wall protection strips. Other protective devices you can use include large, soft chair glides and similar furniture protection sheets, dots, squares, etc. When well placed, the case covers them and you can't even see them.

I once saw a viceo of Vince Gill in his music room talking about his guitars, and he had a lot of them in dresser drawers. I had never seen anything like that before, but the drawers looked a lot like the inside of an older Fender case. I thought that was pretty cool.

I bought a cheap one from Thomann (their "Harley Benton" brand). I use it to store cases in the attic, it can accomodate four or five.

I use a couple of chrome wire shelf units. I zip tie two shelves to the back towards the top and put round furniture pads where it might touch the wall. You can find these in black as well. I put a shelf on the bottomline with carpet scraps and a shelf on the top. I can't seem to find the correct format to post a picture right now. I'll post photos when I figure it out.

I know you said you only want a stand for two guitars in their cases but I have these (CC29) and really like them: Guitar Display Rack & Case Rack Bundle | Guitar Stands. They used to be a lot less but now the least expensive option is around $200. Not sure if that's within your budget. From what I can see it should be easy to cut down the rails and supports to accommodate only two cases if you're handy with tools.
