Hi
I haven't posted here in a long time.
Has anybody found a support cushion or device that can achieve more than the 5" of lift that the large Dynarette can achieve?
I guess I'm pursuing a angle of a bit more than 45º then also.
I'm doing this on solid body Tele-style guitars.
My best results so far have been with the Guitarlift Half Plate.
I also bought 2 other Guitarlift products but they don't work as well with Teles.
For years previous I was using a small Dynarette Velcro'd onto the bottom of my Teles with the guitar on my right leg.
Over the years I've been gravitating to the larger Dynarette on the left leg, also with the Velcro.
I also have two products from an Etsy company that uses metal and clamps, the HBElectro and the HBNarrow.
These work great but don't give me quite enough lift.
I didn't realize how much I missed the extra lift until I started using the Guitarlift.
But the Guitarlift has some downsides too, so I'm still looking.
Anybody?

Never seen a bigger cushion/pillow than what dynarette/oasis has out. I know Matt Palmer uses a dynarette plus footstool, which could be a solution if you’re cool w the stool that is. He’s an outrageously good classical player if you’re not familiar.
got nothing aside from that. Sorry.
Personally not a fan of the guitarlift at all.

Thanks.
My whole thing is about avoiding the footstools though.

Thanks but those won't work with a solid body like a Tele.
The HBNarrow is the best of that type that I've found.

Not cheap, but works well, and will get the guitar as high as you like.

They are great.

Only problem, for me, is that I could use just a bit more lift.
I actually emailed them today asking if they might be making a new model with more lift but haven't heard back yet.
The Guitarlift is the only support, so far, that gets me all the way there.
The Guitarlift Half Plate model works great with my Teles except on the one with the matte finish where the suction cups don't hold very well.
I'll need to buy some stick ons from GL to use it on that guitar.
For now, I use the HBNarrow on that guitar.
[With both the GL and the HB I've found that moving the left side strap pin to the front edge of the heel helps to position the guitar a bit more towards the left and upwards.]
I was sidetracked for a few months trying to get these supports to work on the right leg after seeing the Strandberg and Abasi body designs.
I bought an Eart Strandberg clone and realized that that body shape wouldn't work for me and returned it right away.
Then I bought an actual Strandberg, the Essential model, hoping it might be designed just a bit differently, but no cigar.
This body shape appears to work well for other folks, but there must be something weird about my own physiology, because they sure don't work for me.
My take on both of these guitars is that I'd probably be able to achieve the right leg positioning I was after if they extended the upper horn strap pin location a few inches.
But I could be wrong about that.
Positioning on the left leg doesn't work with this design although i've seen pics of guys playing them that way.
The Abasi body design looks ideal and I've almost bought an Emi 6 several times now.
But it sounds like the neck is extremely thin and I've just weened myself off of thin necks recently.
I still might buy an Abasi just to check it out.
There's a cheapo kit from Solo for a headless Abasi-body-style guitar that I've thought about checking out too but I probably won't.
Too many issues.
It's been an obsession in recent years.
D'Oh.

Y'know I could have sworn that I'd already tried one of those before or that I thought it wouldn't work on a solidbody.

I do have one of those somewhere in the house I believe.
IIRC the cups didn't hold well and the whole thing felt very unstable.
But the Mundo, now that I understand it better, might be worth a try.
Thanks.

Actually...

Here's the text of the message I sent to them before returning it:
"I received my Mundo package yesterday and have been tinkering with the Support for a while today.
I don’t seem to be able to achieve the neck angle that I’d like to with my main guitar, a Telecaster with a tummy contour.
The angle is always too steep and the guitar is too high.
My feeling is that if the contour wasn’t there, I could affix the suction cups to that area and possibly achieve the angle I want.
But that doesn’t seem possible."
So, thanks anyhoo.
