It is probably going to fail.
But let's give it a go.
First one, let's make this hard.
Prodigy - "Firestarter".
What would be the closest match for it in the realm of jazz?
Doesn't have to be a copy, just that.. you know the feeling when hearing something but it instantly triggers a memory of another piece? "this reminds me of... or "it's like..."
Has to have a distinctive nuance of any type (rhythm, notes, sounds, vibe, some idea of lyrics, etc).
(discussions about "what is jazz" are not welcome here! )Last edited by emanresu; 01-03-2024 at 09:32 AM.

He's gotta mean this:

Maybe this?
Or this?

"Firestarter" works 2 ways when counting the meter. The heavy drum on 1st beat or 4th.

EDIT: Intellectually you can interpret any tune's rhythm differently. But this tune is perfect example for Hal Galper's Forward Motion. "I'm the firestarter! BOOOM!"

Litterick got really close with the lyrics.
Hoped for something similar with the notes or sonics.

the big 808 kick is on the one in Firestarter, which reminds me a bit of Mr. Williams on:

Boy am I getting old.
I don't have even the slightest understanding of what this thread is about.
So what the heck, I'll nominate "Lush Life".
