When I gigged in the ‘70s one of my favorite songs to play was from the Sound of Philadelphia was the “Love I Lost” by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes.

I hired, R.H., who played with the Ohio Players ,for a short time, as our bassist/vocalist and whose interpretation was stellar and I've wondered, even today, why he didn't become a big star. I've never heard the first version and prefer it over the original since it has strong R@B/gospel elements in its structure and is the same music I played with small combos for years on Chicago's South and West sides. However, I just love the tune. Thanks for the memories. Play live . . . Marinero
