    What about Jazz tunes adapted from classical pieces? Maybe there is an example with the classical approach of MM ascending and natural minor descending?

    I think the opening phrase of Bach's Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue does this.

    There are many many examples. Pick a minor key piece from the 17th century through to the 20th.

    Jazz examples of the classical use of the melodic minor scale include Beautiful Love and Autumn Leaves.
