Actually, some are and some aren't. They're just a variety of chord clusters. None have the root in the bass. Here's the fingerings I used for two hands. These go to my arrangement of part of Cherokee.

Here's some "pandiatonic" chords with the beginning of the melody of "Giant Steps" as the the top pitches. I sent a copy of it to John McLaughlin. He said, "To say the least, your chord structures are very interesting. I have no idea how you can get this harp-like quality on the guitar. On listening, I would imagine that your work will take you into the realm of composition as opposed to the analysis and re-synthesis of existing harmonic movement, though these two aspects are closely related. In any event keep up the good work and thanks."
If you haven't checked out Ted Greene's "V-System" of organizing all possible 4-note voicings for chords it's well worth the read. It opens up new territory in one's chordal thinking.
"V" stands for "voicing group," and there's 14 of them....some will be familiar, some new. TedGreene.com - Teachings - V-System
I have the same problem with this book too but only because of all the cool sounds within it.
I hear something then my ear wants to go somewhere and I follow it ( I really should start recording...
Dave, what are the JS 113s that you keep mentioning? I don't know what the JS stands for. I did follow Ron Eschete's example and try a 70 Boomer GHS roundwound and it's a whole new world. Instead of...
Dave, hi again. You mentioned in your message a recording where you compared a Blu to the Superblock. But the clip in your post only has the Superblock. Is that other recording still available? Is...
Dave, just saw this. Wow what a nice guitar. I bought one on eBay about 10 years ago, same finish as yours. And then two years ago I bought a natural one from Lou. The first one had an inset...
Not sure how many forum members use plugins for practicing or with DAW recordings, but those who do may be interested. Neural DPS is having a 50% sale on plugins for another 9 days. I bought the...
They usually have nice 3-color sunburst. I considered that model years ago but then I read something about the neck of early ’60s ES-175s and gave up the idea.
But was it something about them...
Very interesting post scgim. My question is who is buying tickets to see that sham.I remember last year there was a Yardbirds tour which only had the drummer from the original band.Better off and...
I usually give the ends of the wrapped strings a squeeze with the flat inside of a long nose pliers. They will fit the Gibson finger tail piece. You won’t have a easy time finding a different nickel...
I haven’t played the benson strings in years but I recall they’re like swings with higher tension (thicker gauges). I have mostly come to dislike flatwound strings but I recently tried dogal...
