G’day friends ,
I’m learning ‘They Can’t Take That Away From Me’ and enjoying the sounds of this great old song.
Everything seems to be working for me, except the G7 in the last line of the third verse .It just doesn’t sound right after the Ab-6 ..Could there be an alternative for this chord ?
This is the third verse setting that I’m working with ..(from Ireal Pro, I think) .
EbM7 F-7 | G-7 Gbo7 | F7 … |Bb7sus |
Bb-7 …|Eb7… | AbM7 Bb7 | Eb6 Ab-6 |
G7 C7 |F7 Bb7 |Eb6 ..|Bb7 sus |
Thanks from OZ ..Charlie

I suppose the Abm6 could be seen as either a tritone in disguise (Db9) or a Galt sound leading to a G7. G being the III7 of a 3-6-2-5
And my sheet music have that G in line three as a G7#5 so it's more or less the same buch of notes as the Abm6, with the root moving down.

I do the last 8:
Bbm7 Eb7 Ab/Bb7 Cm/Db7 Eb/Edim Fm7/Bb7 Eb Bb7sus.
Sometimes I'll add a E9 between the Bbm7 and Eb7. And Eb7b9 between Eb7band Ab.
question regarding sax/guitar duo
