Not sure it matters a lot in real world measurable technical terms. Or maybe it does. I can be happy with whatever is on the fretboard if I like the guitar. And so many factors contribute to tone....
But why, given that the string doesn't even have to touch the wood on a guitar? Would it really be how well the fretboard holds the frets in place?
