Sorry I got triggered I also like monks ballads: round midnight, ruby, pannonica, ask me now.

Probably Solitude
In my solitude
You haunt me
With dreadful ease
Of days gone by
In my solitude
You taunt me
With memories
That never die
I sit in my chair
And filled with despair
There's no one could be so sad
With gloom everywhere
I sit and I stare
I know that I'll soon go mad
In my solitude
I'm afraid
Dear Lord above
Send back my love

Indeed many nice ballads, hard to pick 1. I had to go listen to the thread. The different versions of Round Midnight were great. The bebop ballads are great too like If You Could See Me Now. Yes, Misty rules.
Bebop ballad, Embraceable You which was mentioned.
Laura is a beautiful tune. It's probably Jimmy Smith's most haywire ballad which is awesome.

Ben Webster: My Funny Valentine.
I'm hooked on Ben Webster's breathy tone.

Another is this, from the “Awakenings” soundtrack. Dexter Gordon “plays” it in the movie.

Jazz hmm? don't know but nice

Even a saxophone player can make this one sound beautiful...
and here's a solo version by me -

It’s already been mentioned, so here’s my favorite versions of Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most, 1 vocal, 3 on guitar:
It was actually Johnny Smith that got me hooked on the tune, but I prefer Kenny’s version, esp. using a Dom7 instead of Maj7 on the 2nd chord, which is what I use when playing. Then I heard Betty and it was all over…

Re: You Don't Know What Love Is - As I mentioned in another thread, Larry Coryell's acoustic rendition of it on his 1968 album, Lady Coryell, is lovely.

I really love "In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning."

Ambleside Days is such a beautiful song.

Wardell Gray
A Sinner Kissed an Angel.
(Can I hear a Lester Young influence.)

One ballad that no one has mentioned is "Cry Me a River" by Julie London with Barney Kessel on guitar.
