Wrap your ears around this, with a lush string arrangement.

His instrument, presentation and, well, everything are so Mark Murphy.

Those into old comedy flicks may remember this song as the one Marilyn Monroe, as 'Sugar', sang in Some Like it Hot:

    Oops!

Meant I'm Through With Love, of course. (Goodbye to Love is, I think a '70s pop number that seems to have stuck in my head. Sure wish I could unstick it)...

I like the lyric: the rhymes (including 2 cool inner rhymes on the last 2 lines of the bridge) are effective, and not over-used:

Why did you lead me to think that you could care?
You didn't need me, you had more than your share
Of slaves around you, to hound you and declare
With great emotion, devotion to you

It's not for nothing that Murphy starts with that bridge on the recording. And he heard and made some very nice and personal changes in that lyric throughout, a true interpretation after learning the original and letting it marinate a while.

    A great performance...

And Ella sang it with the verse I was totally unaware of, also with great inner rhymes. (Thank goodness for youtube):
