I love this tune. I used to accompany a friend on clarinet on it before he passed away. The Duke Robillard version that the OP links to is really nice.
Here’s my attempt on solo guitar. I’ve been doing a lot more gardening than practicing lately, so it’s rough. I’ll try to work on finger mechanics and clean it up.
It's been awhile since i last logged in here, but there's a strange synchronicity in that i was just playing
'If I Had You' a couple of days ago, and here it is as this month's standard...
and so, off to the shed i will head, since there are still a few days left in the month!!!
In any case, here's a quick 'baseline' recording, playing the melody and changes from memory, and
without the benefit of my 2nd cup of am coffee:
Hopefully it will get a little better...

I’ve had my Epi Dot for about 24 years now. Upgraded the nut to bone, the bridge, pots and, most importantly, the pickups to an SD 59 in the neck and an SD Seth Lover in the bridge. The sound is so...
Here's some blasphemy.
If you like the feel of a thinline, is there enough tonal difference to justify the cost of using carved woods? The laminates sound good amplified in a ES-175. There are...
Mike Brecker style Diminished scale asymetrical pentatonic
This is an asymetrical diminished pentatonic scale. It's based on Abdim7 and while the pentatonic scale itself

Spot on. I was lazy and thought I might find a buyer with limited effort. I'm preparing to craft proper listings in the next week or two as I get more serious about selling these. I will be listing...

I recently purchased both of these courses. I do not have all access on purpose….I would never get anything done! So I just buy the courses I want to concentrate on.
I watched a good amount of...
I’m sure it’s because of the relative rarity of a factory black one and they claim the condition is excellent. It looks like Rudy just got one like it that hasn’t yet been listed for sale. It would...
I hear you.
i had a Korean made Epi ES 175 that cost £500.
Wonderful playability and feel, well made, didn’t need any work.
I’m a hack, but every really good guitarist who played that thing...
It could also be just pointing out the 3rd of Bb7 on the first beat, followed by a chromatic run down from the 9th of Bb7 to the b7, with this nice flipping of a and bflat around beat 3 of m13....
Gibson knockoffs are all around these days. Epiphones, Sire, Yamaha, even Harley Benton..
A Gibson is a very luxury item, but an Epiphone with a bit of work is just as good to play music. Which is...
